I’ve been reminded this week to practice one of my favourite mantras: “Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle” - J.M. Barrie.   The battle could be as seemingly small as running late or losing your Myki, to the life altering, like changing jobs, breaking up with a partner, money troubles or poor health. Life is rarely smooth sailing but I’d be lying if I said I wasn't feeling a bit jaded by it lately - everyone I know, let alone everyone I meet, seems to be battling something. I love a moment of clarity. It was the 19th of February 2014 and I was on an overnight bus from Buenos Aires to Iguassu Falls. It was 19 hours non-stop and I remember I had really under-estimated how hungry I could get on that bus. Everyone was offering each other their snacks – sharing chips and chocolate – and exchanging stories. I took a moment to write this in my travel diary: I’ve noticed on this trip that travellers are so willing to share - themselves, food, clothes, time, ideas.
