Have you ever finished a yoga class and mumbled the obligatory “nah-mas-tay”, only to walk away wondering what on earth it means? Is it some new age, spiritual way of saying “peace out” or “TTYL” (that’s Talk To You Later, for those over 20)?

When I found out what it meant, I felt so much more authentic when I said it. You can’t help but walk away feeling a little lighter and calmer from that word. It means:

My soul honours your soul. I honour the place in you where the entire universe resides. I honour the light, love, truth, beauty and peace within you, because it is also within me. In sharing these things, we are united, we are the same, we are one.

How beautiful is that? I get that yoga is not everyone’s cup of tea. As one of my favourite people once said to me “You go do yoga. Nah-mas-tay right here and have a beer”.

On that note, Namaste friends!

With Love

That is a powerful message in that one word and thank you for sharing it! Namaste.
